Fort Wainwright Soldier Sentenced to 32 Years for Child Pornography, Texas 2024

A Fort Wainwright soldier, Peter Andrew Duggan, 33, of Anchorage, Alaska, has been sentenced to 32 years in prison for possessing thousands of images of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and for producing CSAM.

According to a press release from the Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney for the District of Alaska, Philip Nardello II, announced the sentencing of Duggan, who was a soldier stationed at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska.

The investigation, which was conducted by the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), revealed that Duggan possessed over 3,000 images and videos of CSAM on his electronic devices. Additionally, the investigation found that Duggan had produced CSAM involving a minor.

The defendant’s arrest and subsequent sentencing are the result of an ongoing effort by the Department of Justice to hold accountable those who commit heinous crimes involving the exploitation of children.

U.S. District Court Judge Sharon L. Gleason imposed the sentence on Duggan, who pleaded guilty to one count of production of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography. Duggan will serve 32 years in federal prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release.

The Department of Justice commends the U.S. Army CID and the FBI for their tireless efforts in investigating and prosecuting this case. The Department also commends the bravery of the victims and their families for coming forward and cooperating with the investigation.
