Grimy Times Investigates: Gary Little Bird, 34, Charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Domestic Assault by an Habitual Offender in South Dakota.
According to the United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson, Gary Little Bird, Jr., a 34-year-old man from Little Eagle, South Dakota, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Domestic Assault by an Habitual Offender.
The indictment alleges that on or about February 13, 2014, Little Bird assaulted his girlfriend with shod feet. The maximum penalty upon conviction is up to 10 years in custody and/or a $250,000 fine, 3 years of supervised release, and up to $200 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.
The investigation is being conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Assistant U.S. Attorney Troy R. Morley is prosecuting the case. Little Bird was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending trial. A trial date has not been set.
The charge is merely an accusation, and Little Bird is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
