Defendant Sentenced to 10.6 Years for Methamphetamine Trafficking
A Hot Springs man has been sentenced to 130 months in prison for his role in a significant methamphetamine trafficking operation in the Hot Springs area.
George Monroe Walston, 51, was found guilty of Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Offense.
According to court documents, Walston was identified by law enforcement as a key player in the methamphetamine trade in Hot Springs. Between May 2021 and October 2021, investigators conducted multiple controlled purchases of methamphetamine from Walston.
On April 19, 2021, a search of Walston’s residence resulted in the seizure of over 205 grams of methamphetamine, approximately 359.7 grams of marijuana, and nineteen individual dosage units of LSD.
The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security Investigations Little Rock, Hot Springs Police Department, Garland County Sheriff’s Department, and the 18th East Judicial District Drug Task Force.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Bryan Achorn and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Trent Daniels prosecuted the case, which is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation.
The OCDETF Program is a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach aimed at disrupting and dismantling high-level criminal organizations that threaten the United States.
U.S. Attorney David Clay Fowlkes of the Western District of Arkansas made the announcement, highlighting the importance of the investigation in disrupting the methamphetamine trade in the Hot Springs area.
