Carl Alan Zaglin, Bribery and Money Laundering, Georgia 2026

Miami – A federal jury in Miami has convicted Carl Alan Zaglin, 70, the CEO of Georgia-based Atlanco LLC, for orchestrating a nearly five-year scheme to bribe Honduran government officials and launder millions of dollars. According to court documents, Zaglin paid bribes to secure contracts with TASA, a governmental entity that procured goods for Honduran security agencies.

Between March 2015 and November 2019, Zaglin, along with intermediaries and Honduran officials, funneled over $10 million in bribes. The jury convicted Zaglin of conspiracy to violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and conspiracy to commit money laundering. He faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison.

Zaglin’s scheme involved using coded language to conceal the bribes, with funds moving through front companies in the U.S., Belize, and elsewhere. His co-conspirators, including Francisco Roberto Cosenza Centeno and Juan Ramon Molina, have already pleaded guilty for their roles.

“Bribery and money laundering schemes that funnel millions through our District to corrupt foreign officials will be met with the full force of federal law,” said U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones. “This verdict sends a clear message: those who seek to buy influence abroad, distort fair competition, or launder dirty money through South Florida will be held accountable.”

Acting Assistant Attorney General Matthew R. Galeotti emphasized the importance of today’s verdict in combating corruption. “Bribing government officials to win business undermines the rule of law and distorts competitive markets,” he said.

The charges against Zaglin were unsealed on December 20, 2023. He faces a sentence determination by a federal district court judge after considering U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other factors.
