Gray Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Large Meth Bust
NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – CHRISTOPHER CARTER, JR., a 30-year-old resident of Gray, Louisiana, was sentenced to 120 months in prison, five years of supervised release, and a mandatory $200 special assessment fee, announced U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans.
CARTER, JR. pleaded guilty to distribution of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(A) and distribution of 5 grams or more of methamphetamine, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(B).
According to court documents, Drug Enforcement Administration agents utilized a confidential source to conduct two audio-video recorded controlled purchases of methamphetamine from CARTER, JR. The first controlled purchase was for 49 grams of methamphetamine on May 19, 2021. The second controlled purchase was for 126 grams of methamphetamine on June 17, 2021.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and Terrebonne Parish Sherriff’s Office. The prosecution was handled by Assistant United States Attorney J. Benjamin Myers of the Financial Crimes Unit.
CARTER, JR.’s sentencing is a significant blow to the methamphetamine distribution ring in Terrebonne Parish. His crimes put countless lives at risk, and his punishment serves as a reminder that those who deal in this deadly substance will face the full force of the law.
