A 52-year-old Greer man, Gerald Larson, is headed to federal prison after a massive cocaine bust in South Carolina. Larson was sentenced to 12.5 years behind bars for possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
On October 7, 2024, Larson was driving from his residence in Greer when he was pulled over by the North Carolina Highway Patrol. A K-9 unit sniffed out the scent of drugs in his vehicle, leading to a search that uncovered 15 kilograms of cocaine in a suitcase.
But that was just the tip of the iceberg. A search warrant for Larson’s residence turned up over $419,000 in cash and an additional 43 kilograms of cocaine. Larson, who already had a lengthy rap sheet for cocaine trafficking and firearms charges in California, was busted big time.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jamie Lea Schoen prosecuted the case, which was investigated by a multi-agency task force that included Homeland Security Investigations, the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
