Gun Felon Sentenced to 96 Months in Prison
A convicted felon has been sentenced to 96 months in prison for being in possession of a firearm. Steven J. H. King, a 33-year-old resident of Mobile, Alabama, was found guilty of possessing a gun as a prohibited person, a charge stemming from a December 2015 indictment.
King, who has a history of run-ins with the law, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge William H. Steele. As part of his sentence, King will also serve a three-year term of supervised release once he is discharged from incarceration. During this time, he will be subject to regular testing and treatment for drug abuse.
The case against King was investigated by the Mobile Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorneys Gina Vann and Gloria Bedwell handled the prosecution in the United States Attorney’s Office.
King’s sentence is a result of his guilty plea in December 2015. At the time, he admitted to violating federal law by possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. This charge carries severe penalties, and King’s sentence reflects the seriousness of his crime.
