CLEVELAND, OHIO – MAY 23, 2024 – A federal grand jury has returned a one-count indictment charging Jacqueline Davis, 50, of Cleveland, with theft of government funds, according to Carole S. Rendon, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.
The indictment alleges that Davis stole $53,650.90 in Social Security benefits by intentionally concealing and failing to report to the Social Security Administration her return to work and continued employment. She did so knowing that it would affect her entitlement to Social Security disability benefits.
Special Assistant United States Attorney Lisa J. Sanniti is prosecuting the case following an investigation by the SSA Office of Inspector General.
If convicted, the court will determine Davis’s sentence after a review of factors unique to this case, including her prior criminal record, if any, her role in the offense, and the characteristics of the violation. In all cases, the sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum. In most cases, it will be less than the maximum.
