Kearney Woman Sentenced to Over 5 Years for Meth Distribution

A federal court in Lincoln, Nebraska, sentenced 42-year-old Jade Summers of Kearney, Nebraska, to 60 months in prison for distributing methamphetamine. The court also imposed a 3-year term of supervised release after Summers’ release from prison.

The crime occurred on April 4, 2023, when a Confidential Informant (CI) set up a controlled purchase of meth from Summers in Grand Island, Nebraska. Summers agreed to sell ¼ pound of meth to the CI for $1,600. Law enforcement provided the CI with video/audio recording devices for the controlled buy.

The purchase occurred in Grand Island, Nebraska, and the CI purchased the meth from Summers. The meth was packaged in three baggies, which were later confirmed by the State Crime Lab to contain over 100 grams of meth. The largest baggie had a purity of 100% and contained at least 55 grams of actual meth.

The Tri-City Drug Enforcement Team (TRIDENT) investigated the case, which involved law enforcement personnel from various agencies, including the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Grand Island Police Department, Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Hastings Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, Kearney Police Department, and the Nebraska State Patrol.

On January 10, 2025, United States District Judge Susan M. Bazis sentenced Summers to the 60-month prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.
