Florida Man Sentenced for Receiving Child Pornography
A 23-year-old man from Orlando, Florida, will spend the next decade behind bars after being convicted of receiving child pornography, according to the Department of Justice.
Jose Francisco Cardoso Tehovnik, 23, of Orlando, Florida, was sentenced to 132 months in prison by U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr. on child sex tourism charges in the Northern District of Alabama. The defendant had traveled from Florida to Western New York to engage in sexual activity with a minor.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and the Western New York Cyber Crimes Task Force.
Tehovnik’s sentence is a harsh reminder of the consequences of engaging in child sex tourism and the importance of protecting our children from predators.
The Department of Justice has made it clear that it will aggressively pursue and prosecute individuals who engage in such heinous crimes.
The case serves as a warning to others who may be tempted to engage in child sex tourism: the consequences are severe, and the justice system will not hesitate to hold you accountable.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Alabama, led by U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo, has been instrumental in bringing this case to justice.
