Steven Jamar Alexander, Fentanyl Distribution, West Virginia 2024

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – A Kanawha County man known as ‘Dook’ has pleaded guilty to distributing a dangerous quantity of fentanyl in West Virginia.

Steven Jamar Alexander, 39, from Nitro, admitted selling approximately 20 grams of the deadly substance on two separate occasions to an informant in St. Albans. The crimes took place last March, and the investigation revealed Alexander’s previous conviction for drug trafficking in 2019.

Afraid of a lifetime behind bars, Alexander now faces up to 30 years in prison, a minimum six-year supervised release, and a $2 million fine. His sentencing is set for November 10.

This case is part of a larger investigation that resulted in the indictment of 13 others accused of drug distribution in the area between June 2024 and May 2025. One defendant, Rafael Cee-Erwin Solomon, also known as ‘Rip,’ pleaded guilty earlier this month to distributing fentanyl.

Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa G. Johnston praised the work of law enforcement agencies involved, including the FBI and MDENT. The case is under Operation Take Back America, a federal initiative targeting drug trafficking organizations and transnational criminal groups.

The investigation was led by U.S. District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeremy B. Wolfe prosecuting. Court documents and information are available on PACER for Case No. 2:25-cr-70.
