Christopher W. Abrams, Possessing an Unregistered Firearm, Missouri 2024

⏱ 2 min read

A Kansas City man’s reckless decision to pack a sawed-off shotgun proved costly. Christopher W. Abrams, 52, was caged for 4 1/2 years after being caught with the firearm.

On February 10, 2024, police responded to reports of an armed robbery near Independence Avenue and Van Brunt Boulevard. Officers found Abrams and, during a frisk, discovered the modified shotgun.

The sawed-off Winchester 12-gauge shotgun’s stock had been cut down and its barrel sawed short, with multiple marks visible. It was loaded with a live shell.

Abrams, a convicted felon with 12 prior felony offenses, was found guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm and possessing an unregistered firearm.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative to combat violent crime and protect communities.
