COVINGTON, Ky. — The grimy streets of Kentucky were hit with another shocker as Michael J. Grogan, 67, of Lakeside Park, was indicted by a federal grand jury for a shocking 257 counts of illegal distribution of controlled substances.
Grogan, who owned and operated Go Beyond Medicine in Crescent Springs, Ky., is accused of distributing and dispensing Schedule II drugs outside the scope of professional medical practice. The indictment points fingers at Grogan’s unlawful prescriptions for Oxycodone between February 1, 2018, and February 13, 2019.
The investigation was a joint effort by the DEA, FBI, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the Northern Kentucky Drug Strike Force. Grogan’s arraignment took place on Monday, with his trial scheduled for October 26.
If convicted, Grogan could be sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in prison. However, any sentence would be determined by the Court after considering the United States Sentencing Guidelines and federal statutes.
It’s important to note that an indictment is merely an accusation, and Grogan is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
This isn’t just another drug bust; it’s a wake-up call in the battle against illegal drug distribution. Stay tuned as the Grimy Times keeps you updated on this gritty case.
