Pleasant Hill Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Distributing Child Pornography

Oakland – In a disturbing case of online exploitation, Laurence Pullen, a 60-year-old resident of Pleasant Hill, California, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for distributing child pornography.

A federal grand jury indicted Pullen on November 29, 2012, and he pleaded guilty on April 22, 2013. According to the plea agreement, Pullen admitted to distributing over the Internet videos of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct with adults.

U.S. District Court Judge Claudia Wilken handed down the sentence following a guilty plea on Count One of the Indictment in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2252(a)(2). In addition to the 15-year prison term, Judge Wilken also sentenced Pullen to a ten-year period of supervised release, ordered him to register as a sex offender, and to participate in a sex offender treatment program.

The investigation that led to Pullen’s arrest was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations. The prosecution of the case is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rodney C. Villazor with the assistance of Vanessa Quant.

The sentence sends a strong message that distributing child pornography will not be tolerated in our society. We urge anyone with information about similar crimes to come forward and report it to the authorities.

The case is a reminder that the production, distribution, and possession of child pornography is a serious crime that causes harm to the victims and their families. We hope that this sentence brings some measure of justice to those affected by Pullen’s actions.

Laurence Pullen’s sentence serves as a warning to others who would engage in similar activities. We will continue to work tirelessly to protect our communities from these types of crimes and bring perpetrators to justice.
