Timothy Mullally, Meth Conspiracy, Iowa 2024

A man from Le Mars, Iowa has been taken into custody after pleading guilty to methamphetamine and firearm charges in a federal court.

Timothy Mullally, 48, of Le Mars, Iowa, pled guilty on May 16, 2024, in federal court in Sioux City to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and one count of prohibited person in possession of firearms.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office, Mullally admitted to distributing more than two kilograms of methamphetamine between January 2022 and September 2022. He also admitted to distributing over 800 grams of pure methamphetamine on two occasions in August and September 2022 to an individual cooperating with law enforcement.

During the investigation, law enforcement and the United States Postal Inspection Service intercepted a three-pound package of methamphetamine coming from California to Mullally’s house in September 2022. A search warrant at Mullally’s properties and vehicles also led to the seizure of $5,830 and two firearms.

Mullally admitted to being a regular user of methamphetamine, making him prohibited from possessing any firearm. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment on the drug conviction.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and was investigated by the Tri-State Drug Task Force, a multi-agency task force based in Sioux City, Iowa. Mullally is currently being held in custody pending sentencing.

Sentencing for Mullally will be set after a presentence report is prepared by the United States District Court Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand. On the drug conviction, Mullally also faces a possible $10,000,000 fine and at least five years of supervised release following any imprisonment. For the firearm conviction, he faces a possible maximum sentence of 15 years’ imprisonment and a $250,000 fine, as well as not more than three years of supervised release.
