A former Missouri cop has been put away for trading in sickening child porn. Darrin Marshall Skinner, 52, used the private messaging app MeWe to swap the vile images with other perverts. Skinner worked as a school resource officer in Mack’s Creek, a tiny town in Camden County.
He was busted after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children got a tip about his activities. The Camden County Sheriff’s Office asked the Missouri State Highway Patrol to investigate due to a conflict of interest. Skinner was a cop, after all.
A US Attorney’s Office probe found Skinner had downloaded and shared disturbing images of kids as young as 10. He was charged with one count of receiving child sexual abuse material.
Skinner will spend the next nine years behind bars, followed by ten years of supervised release. He’ll also have to register as a sex offender for life.
This case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a DOJ initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sex abuse and exploitation. It’s a nationwide effort that brings together federal, state, and local law enforcement to catch and prosecute predators like Skinner.
