Marcus Warren, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Delaware 2026

In a shocking turn of events, two Wilmington men have been charged with federal methamphetamine offenses. Marcus Warren, 35, and Donavan McGriff, 35, were the subjects of a months-long investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the New Castle County Police Department (NCCPD).

According to court records, the investigation culminated in the execution of search warrants for Warren and McGriff’s residences in Wilmington and McGriff’s car on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. The search of Warren’s residence resulted in the recovery of nearly one kilogram of methamphetamine pills and three guns, including a privately made firearm or ‘ghost gun’ with no serial number. The search of McGriff’s residence resulted in the recovery of an additional gun.

The car search revealed over 500 grams of pills which were subsequently identified as methamphetamine. Warren and McGriff were charged with conspiracy to distribute more than 500 grams of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine and one count each of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

Warren faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years in prison and a maximum penalty of life in prison. McGriff faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison and a maximum penalty of life in prison. Actual sentences for federal crimes are typically less than the maximum penalties. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after taking into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The DEA and NCCPD investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin B. Smith is prosecuting the case. U.S. Attorney Benjamin L. Wallace and DEA Philadelphia Field Division, Wilmington Resident Office, Special Agent in Charge Thomas Hodnett made the announcement.

The charges contained in the indictment are merely accusations, and Warren and McGriff are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
