New Orleans, Louisiana – Marlon Efrain Chavez Aguirre, a 50-year-old citizen of Honduras, has entered a guilty plea for illegal re-entry into the United States after being deported. The plea was made on July 9, 2024, in violation of Title 8, United States Code, Sections 1326(a).
According to court documents, Chavez Aguirre confessed to sneaking back into the country following his previous deportation on September 24, 2012. The offense carries serious penalties, including up to two years in prison, one year of supervised release, a fine of up to $250,000, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.
The sentencing hearing is scheduled for October 15, 2024, before U.S. District Court Judge Greg G. Guidry. The case was investigated by United States Customs and Border Patrol, with Assistant United States Attorney Paul J. Hubbell of the General Crimes Unit handling the prosecution.
