Florence Man Sentenced to 30 Years for Child Pornography Production

MISSOULA – Matthew Ray Tack, 41, was sentenced to 360 months in prison to be followed by a lifetime of supervised release for producing child pornography in Missoula, Montana.

Tack pleaded guilty in December 2025 to two counts of production of child pornography, two counts of transfer of obscene material to minors, and one count of receipt of child pornography.

The investigation revealed that on May 14, 2024, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Tack’s residence in Florence and seized several phones and a laptop. Forensic analysis of the laptop showed that Tack had produced and received multiple images and videos of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Tack’s chats with minors on an online chat application revealed his solicitation of images and videos that depicted minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. He told one minor that he wanted ‘lewd pics’ of her and that his sexual interest in her was due to her age, saying ‘… young and hot, definitely my weakness.’

Tack’s crimes date back to April 2021, when he began chatting with a 13-year-old minor on an online application. He sent her several shirtless photos of himself and asked her to take pictures of herself. Tack also engaged in similar chats with another 13-year-old minor, Jane Doe 2, from September 2021 to February 2022.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian Lowney prosecuted the case, which was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The FBI, State of Montana Division of Criminal Investigation, Glasgow Police Department, and Western Australia Police Force conducted the investigation.

Tack’s sentence includes a lifetime of supervised release, highlighting the severity of his crimes and the importance of protecting children from exploitation.
