Mayra Rendon, Methamphetamine and Fentanyl Conspiracy, Nebraska 2022

A high-stakes drug operation in the Omaha area has been dealt a significant blow as Mayra Rendon, 36, was sentenced to 210 months in federal prison for her role in a methamphetamine and fentanyl conspiracy.

Between August 2021 and November 2021, Rendon, working alongside co-conspirators, was responsible for distributing large quantities of these deadly substances in and around the Omaha and Council Bluffs, Iowa areas.

In a particularly brazen move, Rendon and her co-conspirators sold an undercover agent a staggering 3,000 fentanyl pills, weighing a total of 339.6 grams. The investigation also revealed that Rendon arranged for packages containing methamphetamine and fentanyl to be shipped to the Omaha area, leading to the confiscation of packages containing 3,065 fentanyl pills and over 4.5 kg of methamphetamine.

The overall investigation resulted in the recovery and confiscation of over 20 pounds of fentanyl and 25 pounds of methamphetamine, a testament to the severity of the operation.

Rendon’s co-defendant, Colleen Wiand, is scheduled to be sentenced on October 28, 2022. Seven other co-defendants, including Samantha Cawyer, Emidio Becerra, Oscar Quiroz Ayon, Darbelio Lorenzo-Genchi, Iris Gallardo-Salado, Giovana Cisneros, and Lorenzo Gonzalez-Perez, are still pending trial.

The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the United States Postal Inspection Service, with assistance provided by the Omaha Police Department and the Utah State Patrol.

Rendon will face a five-year term of supervised release upon her release from prison, a stark reminder of the long-term consequences of her actions.
