A Memphis man has been locked up for 27 years for running a lucrative meth and fentanyl trade. Terry Curtis, 41, had been shipping massive amounts of the deadly substances to his doorstep before narcotics officers swooped in. In April 2022, a package containing 2 kilograms of methamphetamine and 497 grams of fentanyl was intercepted by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
After the package was delivered to Curtis’s home, officers served a search warrant and recovered the substances, as well as two loaded firearms, pill presses, scales, cash, and other drug paraphernalia. The investigation revealed Curtis was selling a pound of methamphetamine daily.
Curtis pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine in September 2025. On May 13, 2026, United States District Judge Mark S. Norris handed down the 324-month sentence, to be followed by ten years of supervised release.
U.S. Attorney D. Michael Dunavant warned that those who traffic deadly poison into communities will be severely punished. The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence.
