Memphis Man Sentenced to Life for Trafficking 14-Year-Old Girl

TUCSON, Ariz. – A federal jury convicted Maurice Fitzgerald Alexander, 33, of Memphis, Tennessee, last week for his role in sex trafficking a 14-year-old girl.

Alexander was found guilty of Sex Trafficking of a Minor by Force, Fraud, or Coercion; Conspiracy to Commit Sex Trafficking of a Minor Using Force, Fraud, or Coercion; Transportation with Intent to Engage in Criminal Sexual Activity; and Production of Child Pornography.

The investigation, led by the Tucson Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations, revealed that Alexander trafficked the minor victim through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Colorado between August 19, 2021, and October 4, 2021.

A review of Alexander’s cellular phone showed that he forced the minor victim to create photos and videos depicting sexually explicit conduct that were later used in advertisements on social media and various other websites commonly used for prostitution.

Alexander was arrested on October 21, 2021, in Tucson. He now faces a maximum penalty of up to life in prison for each of the sex trafficking counts, with a mandatory minimum of 15 years for the Sex Trafficking of a Minor by Force, Fraud, or Coercion charge.

Alexander also faces an additional 10 years in prison, which must run consecutively to any other sentence of imprisonment, for committing these offenses while being required to register as a sex offender.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Nathaniel J. Walters and Monica E. Ryan, District of Arizona, Tucson.

Alexander’s sentencing is set for August 14, 2024, before United States District Judge James A. Soto.
