Richard Lance Cline Jr., Meth Trafficking, Louisiana 2021

⏱ 3 min read

A notorious methamphetamine trafficker in Walker, Louisiana is heading to the slammer for nearly 24 years after a string of brazen sales to undercover cops. Richard Lance Cline Jr., 35, was convicted of distributing and possessing with intent to distribute the deadly drug.

Between February 25 and March 9, 2021, Cline sold massive quantities of meth to an undercover agent, amassing a total of 150 grams or more. The final sale went sour when Cline was caught attempting to make a third deal, and he’s been locked up ever since.

Prosecutors praised the DEA and East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office for their tenacious work in taking down the meth kingpin. ‘Twenty-three years in federal prison is the type of sentence that should grab their attention,’ said US Attorney Kurt L. Wall.

As part of his sentence, Cline will serve five years of supervised release after his prison stint. The lengthy prison term is a victory for public safety and a testament to the seamless collaboration between federal and local law enforcement.

Cline’s defense team tried to argue entrapment, but the jury saw right through it and convicted him unanimously.
