McALLEN, Texas – A 36-year-old Mexican man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for receiving child pornography involving infants and toddlers, according to U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei.
Jose Julian Garcia Garza, 36, pleaded guilty on April 2nd, facing the wrath of U.S. District Judge Drew B. Tipton, who imposed a 120-month prison term. The court also learned that Garza utilized a virtual private network to conceal his illicit activities and is believed to have used child sex dolls to recreate videos he downloaded.
Garza was ordered to pay $104,500 in restitution to 14 victims and will be on supervised release for 10 years upon his prison term’s completion. Restrictions will limit his access to children and the internet, along with a mandatory sex offender registration.
In July 2024, authorities uncovered Garza using a peer-to-peer file sharing program to download child sexual abuse material (CSAM), including videos of infants and toddlers engaged in sexual acts. A search of his bedroom revealed an infant-sized doll, two lifelike sex dolls, and various adult toys.
“The facts underlying this investigation are as disturbing,” said Ganjei. “Garza seems to be the kind who would not content himself with mere viewing of CSAM. Fortunately, law enforcement arrested him before he could physically prey on children.”
Garza will remain in custody pending transfer to a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility. The FBI conducted the investigation, and Assistant U.S. Attorney M. Alexis Garcia prosecuted the case as part of Project Safe Childhood (PSC), which combats child sexual exploitation and abuse.
