Mexican National Sentenced for Re-Entry into US
Jamie Parra-Serrano, a 38-year-old man from Mexico, has been sentenced to time served for re-entering the United States after being deported, according to a recent court ruling.
Parra-Serrano was removed from the US by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on August 24, 2012, but was found in Allegheny County on October 20, 2015.
Prosecutors say Parra-Serrano, an illegal alien, was convicted of re-entry into the United States after deportation. United States District Judge Mark Hornak imposed the sentence on Parra-Serrano, citing the evidence presented in court.
Assistant United States Attorney Paul E. Hull prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, working closely with ICE officials to bring Parra-Serrano to justice.
US Attorney David J. Hickton commended ICE for their efforts in securing the conviction, saying that their work is crucial in keeping American communities safe.
Parra-Serrano will serve the remainder of his time in a federal facility, marking the end of a lengthy and complex case.
The case serves as a reminder of the importance of enforcing immigration laws and holding those who break them accountable for their actions.
