Milea Ixta, 32, of Ithaca, Nebraska, Sentenced for Methamphetamine Trafficking
Omaha, Nebraska – In a shocking case of crime, a woman has been sentenced to 162 months in prison for possessing a substantial amount of methamphetamine while shoplifting at a local Walmart. Milea Ixta, 32, of Ithaca, Nebraska, was taken into custody on January 18, 2021, after a report of shoplifting at the Omaha Walmart.
According to sources, officers responded to a report of shoplifting where the customer failed to ring up items and was attempting to leave the store. When the officer arrived, Ixta was taken into custody. A backpack she was carrying was searched, and in addition to locating the stolen merchandise, officers also seized 148 grams of actual methamphetamine as well as 580 grams of a cutting agent.
The case was investigated by the Omaha Police Department. United States Attorney Steven Russell announced that Ixta was sentenced on January 4, 2023, in federal court in Omaha for Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.
After her release from prison, Ixta will begin a 5-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Brian C. Buescher.
This case highlights the growing problem of methamphetamine trafficking in the Omaha area. The Omaha Police Department has been working tirelessly to combat this issue and keep the community safe.
