Montana Man Caught with Child Porn

A Belgrade, Montana man has been sentenced for his role in a disturbing child pornography case. Michael Blackburn, 63, was convicted of possession of child pornography.

On March 15, 2013, Chief Judge Jeffrey L. Viken, U.S. District Court, handed down the sentence. Blackburn was ordered to serve 36 months in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release. He was also forced to pay $100 to the Victim Assistance Fund.

According to the investigation, in April 2012, Blackburn knowingly possessed computer files containing images of child pornography. He pleaded guilty to the charge on October 29, 2012.

The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation led the investigation into the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah B. Collins prosecuting the case.

Blackburn’s sentence serves as a stark reminder of the severity of child pornography laws. The possession and distribution of such material can have devastating consequences for victims.
