A 41-year-old New Orleans man is facing serious time for recklessly packing heat. Brandon Joseph was slapped with a felony indictment for being a known felon in possession of a firearm.
The FBI and New Orleans Police Department tracked down Joseph after he allegedly brandished a gun on March 2, 2026, in the Eastern District of Louisiana. With a rap sheet that includes crimes punishable by more than a year behind bars, Joseph is looking at a serious sentence.
According to the indictment, Joseph’s possession of the firearm could bring a maximum 15-year prison stint, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release. He’s also facing a mandatory $100 assessment fee.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at tackling cartels, transnational crime organizations, and violent offenders.
U.S. Attorney David I. Courcelle emphasized that the indictment is just a charge, and the defendant’s guilt must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
