Orlando Jose Jarquin Orozco, Re-Entering US After Deportation, California 2020

⏱ 2 min read

A 36-year-old Nicaraguan national is facing up to 10 years behind bars after being caught re-entering the United States after deportation. Orlando Jose Jarquin Orozco, a convicted felon, was previously deported on November 2, 2016, after serving two years for second-degree battery in Jefferson Parish.

But Jarquin Orozco didn’t stay out. He re-entered the country undetected, leaving authorities to track him down through a combination of immigration and social security investigations.

U.S. Attorney David I. Courcelle praised the work of ICE and the SSA’s Office of the Inspector General for their role in bringing Jarquin Orozco to justice.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Katherine Kaufman led the prosecution, which is part of the Department of Justice’s nationwide Operation Take Back America initiative.
