Cole Diggs, Child Exploitation, Louisiana 2021

NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans man, COLE DIGGS (a/k/a Kevon Godson), age 31, admitted today to a depraved scheme to coerce and exploit children online. Diggs pled guilty before United States District Judge Barry W. Ashe to producing files depicting the sexual exploitation of children, a violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2251(a). The details are stomach-churning, and Grimy Times won’t shy away from the ugliness of this case.

According to court documents, between November 2021 and December 2022, Diggs systematically targeted at least six minors he connected with through a multimedia instant messaging app. The victims ranged in age from a horrifying seven years old to fifteen. Diggs didn’t just stumble upon this; he actively cultivated a “sextortion” scheme, preying on vulnerable kids.

The method was calculated and cruel. Diggs posed as a minor himself, sending sexually explicit images of adults to gain trust. He then engaged in sexually charged conversations with his young victims, directing them on how to create compromising images and videos. When these children understandably expressed reluctance, Diggs didn’t back down – he escalated to outright extortion, compelling them to comply with his demands. This wasn’t about attraction; it was about control and exploitation.

But the depravity didn’t stop there. Diggs wasn’t simply collecting these images for his own perversion. Court records show he actively sought to purchase sexually explicit depictions of minors, and he did so on multiple occasions, even trading images he’d obtained through his extortion scheme. He was a buyer, seller, and active participant in a vile marketplace of child abuse.

Diggs now faces a mandatory minimum of fifteen years behind bars, with a potential maximum sentence of thirty years. Beyond imprisonment, he’s looking at at least five years – and potentially a lifetime – of supervised release, up to a $250,000 fine, and a $100 special assessment fee. He will also likely be required to register as a sex offender, a label he deserves to carry for the rest of his life. Sentencing is scheduled for December 4, 2025.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative dedicated to combating child sexual exploitation. U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson praised the Federal Bureau of Investigation for their work on this investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Jordan Ginsberg, Chief of the Public Integrity Unit, is leading the prosecution. Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and report on the sentencing.
