Defendant Charged with Unlawful Distribution of Tramadol in Idaho
POCATELLO – A 61-year-old man from St. Anthony, Idaho, has been indicted for his alleged role in distributing a controlled substance.
According to a federal indictment, Paul Allen distributed Tramadol, a Schedule IV controlled substance, on three separate occasions in 2016. The indictment alleges that Allen distributed the substance without lawful authorization on March 12, March 19, and April 2, 2016.
The case was investigated by the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration. The indictment is a means of charging Allen with the alleged crime, and it is not evidence of guilt.
Allen, if convicted, faces up to 20 years in prison, a maximum fine of $1,000,000, and at least three years of supervised release. The government is also seeking forfeiture of the proceeds involved in the offense.
An indictment is a formal accusation of criminal activity, and it does not prove guilt. Allen is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
The case is set to proceed in a federal court in Pocatello. The indictment is a significant development in the ongoing investigation, but it is essential to note that the allegations have not been proven in court.
As the investigation continues, the community remains concerned about the impact of illicit substances on public health and safety. The charges against Allen are a reminder of the importance of addressing the root causes of substance abuse and working towards a safer, healthier community.
