Iowa Man Sentenced to 11 Years for Child Pornography

A 51-year-old man from Hopkinton, Iowa, has been sentenced to over 11 years in federal prison for possessing child pornography.

Paul LeClere received the sentence on June 4, 2015 after a guilty plea to one count of possession of child pornography. At the guilty plea hearing, LeClere admitted to knowingly possessing child pornography.

LeClere was sentenced in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Chief Judge Linda R. Reade. He was sentenced to 135 months’ imprisonment and fined $10,000. A special assessment of $100 was imposed, LeClere was ordered to make $4,000 in restitution, and he must also serve a ten-year term of supervised release. He must comply with all sex offender registration and public notification requirements.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mark Tremmel and was investigated by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, the Davenport Police Department, the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
