Pekin Woman Charged with False Firearm Statement
A 39-year-old Pekin woman has been charged with making a false statement during the purchase of a firearm, according to a federal indictment.
Kirstin Sue Jackson, of the 200 block of Ripper Street, Pekin, Illinois, allegedly made a false and fictitious written statement stating she was the actual buyer of the firearm when she acquired it from Pekin Gun & Sporting Goods, Inc. in May of 2021.
According to the indictment, which was returned on September 21, 2021, Jackson knowingly made the false statement in order to purchase the firearm.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) conducted the investigation that led to the indictment.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Ronald L. Hanna is representing the government in the prosecution.
Members of the public are reminded that an indictment is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Jackson was arrested on September 23, 2021 and is currently in custody of the United States Marshal Service.
If convicted, Jackson faces a maximum of 5 years in prison, 3 years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine.
