Tyreek Byrd, Home Invasion Robbery, Pennsylvania 2018

PHILADELPHIA – United States Attorney David Metcalf announced the conviction of Tyreek Byrd, 37, for his role in a violent home invasion robbery. Byrd was found guilty by a federal jury on charges including conspiracy to commit armed home invasion robberies, Hobbs Act robbery, and using a firearm during a crime of violence.

The trial revealed that Byrd and three co-conspirators targeted business owners, conducting extensive research using GPS tracking devices to locate their victims. They committed the crimes with zip ties, duct tape, and firearms, causing terror and fear in Delaware County on December 31, 2019.

Byrd and two others forced a nail salon owner into his residence, where they abducted his family, demanding money while issuing threats against their daughter. After terrorizing the family for 40 minutes, the robbers fled with thousands of dollars and other items.

Byrd is scheduled to be sentenced on December 18, facing a mandatory minimum of five years and potentially life in prison. Co-conspirator Willie Singletary received a 17-year sentence, while Shaquan Brown awaits sentencing after his conviction this April.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and making neighborhoods safer. Investigated by the ATF, Haverford Police Department, FBI, and Montgomery County Detective Bureau, it was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Anthony Carissimi and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian Doherty.
