Burlington, Vermont – A Philadelphia drug kingpin has been handed a 95-month prison sentence for orchestrating a major crack cocaine and fentanyl distribution operation in Vermont. Talbert Hill, 44, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute crack cocaine and fentanyl.
Records indicate that Hill conspired with others during the summer and fall of 2023 to traffic drugs in the Burlington area. In September and October, law enforcement conducted five controlled buys of fentanyl from Hill and his associates. On November 3, 2023, Hill was found in Burlington after a high-speed chase, leaving behind approximately 1,000 baggies of fentanyl and 8-12 packages of crack cocaine.
In the same day’s sweep, authorities discovered an apartment linked to Hill, where they seized around 16,000 fentanyl bags and a significant amount of crack cocaine. This haul was deemed one of Burlington Police Department’s largest drug seizures at the time. Hill faced charges for possessing more than one kilogram of fentanyl and a quantity of crack cocaine with intent to distribute.
Acting United States Attorney Michael P. Drescher praised the collaborative efforts of the Burlington Police Department, Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department in the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michelle Arra and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Katherine Flynn prosecuted the case, while Hill was represented by Jordana Levine, Esq.
The sentence handed down by Chief United States District Judge Christina Reiss follows Hill’s initial plea on August 19, 2025, which also included a 3-year term of supervised release.
