Ronell Cathie, Fentanyl and Cocaine Trafficking, Pennsylvania 2024

Felon Ronell Cathie, 31, of Pittsburgh, has entered a guilty plea in federal court for drug trafficking and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. The charges stem from his alleged involvement in the distribution of fentanyl and cocaine, both Schedule II controlled substances.

Cathie’s illegal activities were uncovered between March and July 2024 when he was part of a conspiracy to distribute these dangerous drugs. Law enforcement executed a search warrant at Cathie’s residence on July 19, 2024, where they found a stolen firearm, magazine, and ammunition, further solidifying his criminal involvement.

Despite multiple prior felony convictions for firearms, Cathie continued to flout federal laws that prohibit possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon. His sentencing is scheduled for November 12, 2025, where he faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $1 million.

The investigation leading to Cathie’s prosecution was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with Assistant United States Attorneys Katherine C. Jordan and Kelly M. Locher handling the case on behalf of the government.

This prosecution is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation aimed at dismantling high-level drug traffickers and criminal organizations that pose a threat to the United States. OCDETF leverages the strengths of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in this intelligence-driven approach.

Pending his sentencing, Cathie remains in custody.
