Ronald Cobbs Jr, Methamphetamine Distribution, Mississippi 2024

Lil Ron, 39, of Jackson, Mississippi, is headed to the big house for a long, long time. The local rapper, also known as Ronald Cobbs, Jr. a/k/a Reverend Bankroll, was sentenced to 170 months in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute over 37 grams of methamphetamine.

Cobbs’ run-in with the law started at his t-shirt business located in North Mart Plaza in Jackson, where he was allegedly distributing narcotics. The case is the result of an extensive investigation targeting illegal drug trafficking in the Jackson, Mississippi, and surrounding areas.

The 39-year-old rapper was indicted by a federal grand jury and pled guilty in February 2024 to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. U.S. Attorney Todd Gee and Assistant Special Agent in Charge Anessa Daniels-McCaw of the Drug Enforcement Administration made the announcement.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office, and Ridgeland Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Keesha Middleton handled the prosecution.

According to court documents, Cobbs was caught red-handed distributing narcotics at his business. The case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation, which targets high-level drug traffickers and uses a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach to dismantle criminal networks.

The 170-month sentence is a harsh reality for Cobbs, who will be spending the next 14+ years behind bars. The rapper’s music career, it seems, has come to an abrupt end. As for his fans, they’ll have to find a new idol to look up to.
