DULUTH, Minn. – Dillon Alvan Reyna, 33, a repeat sex offender, was sentenced today to 264 months imprisonment followed by 15 years supervised release for Coercion and Enticement of a Minor, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson.
‘No parent should have to wonder if their child is safe at a park,’ said Thompson. ‘Yet here, a repeat sex offender in his 30s targeted and picked up a vulnerable child from a Duluth park—a child who had already endured abuse. That is beyond appalling,’ he added.
In October 2022, Reyna met the minor victim, under age 16, in a local park. Known to be uniquely vulnerable, the child was receiving care for prior sexual abuse. For months, Reyna manipulated the victim into sex using coercive techniques, gifts, and rides. He physically forced sex and filmed it without consent, communicating through social media.
Law enforcement halted Reyna’s actions after tracking the victim to his apartment, where he lied about their meeting and instructed the victim to lie to police. The victim disclosed the abuse, and Reyna attempted to delete evidence from social media accounts while in jail.
Reyna had previously pleaded guilty to Third Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct – Force or Coercion in 2021, receiving a stay of adjudication. Sentencing judge Jeffrey M. Bryan highlighted the aggravating circumstances, including the filming and recording of the abuse, noting the long-lasting harm inflicted on the victim.
‘Reyna’s actions were a reprehensible attack on the safety and innocence of a vulnerable child,’ said Special Agent in Charge Alvin M. Winston Sr. of FBI Minneapolis. The sentence sends a message to all offenders that justice will be served for victims of similar abuse.
