Man Charged in Methamphetamine Conspiracy

A Rosebud man has been charged with conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, announced United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson.

Lawrence Bordeaux, age 30, was indicted by a federal grand jury on June 10, 2014, for his alleged involvement in the distribution and possession of methamphetamine on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation between February and March 2014.

The indictment alleges that Bordeaux knowingly and intentionally distributed and possessed with intent to distribute methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance, on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation.

Bordeaux appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on June 17, 2014, and pled not guilty to the indictment. He is currently being held in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending trial.

If convicted, Bordeaux faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in custody and/or a $1,000,000 fine, at least 3 years of supervised release, and a $100 assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.

The investigation is being conducted by the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jay Miller is prosecuting the case.

Bordeaux is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The charges are merely accusations, and he will have the opportunity to present his defense at trial.
