San Antonio, Texas – In a chilling sentence that echoes the severity of his crimes, Charles Alexander Lopez, 30, has been sentenced to 65 years in federal prison for sexually exploiting three innocent children. The defendant’s despicable actions have left a lasting scar on the lives of his victims and sent a clear message of justice served.
Lopez, caught in a Wickr group chat boasting about his ‘conquest,’ was recorded posting explicit images and video of a toddler he had just sexually assaulted. His monstrous behavior continued with the sexual exploitation of a female toddler and a non-verbal autistic male child. The FBI’s swift action led to the seizure of electronic devices filled with Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), confirming Lopez’s sickening patterns.
Arrested on October 27, 2023, Lopez was indicted on three counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of possession of child pornography by a federal grand jury. He pleaded guilty to the charges on February 10, 2025. Senior U.S. District Judge David Ezra delivered the sentence on July 14, also ordering $150,000 in restitution for his victims.
U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons emphasized the necessity of keeping predators like Lopez off the streets, stating, ‘These child predators cannot remain free.’ Special Agent in Charge Aaron Tapp echoed this sentiment, vowing that the FBI will continue to pursue those who prey on children with relentless determination.
The investigation was a collaborative effort between the FBI San Antonio and the United States Attorney’s Office, with assistance from the FBI Albany. Assistant U.S. Attorney Tracy Thompson led the prosecution. This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a justice department initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
