Sex Trafficker Sentenced to 12 Years
An Omaha man has been sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in prison for transporting a minor to Nebraska for sex. Mitchel D. Abraham, 23, was sentenced by United States District Judge Brian C. Buescher in federal court in Omaha.
Abraham was found to have transported a 15-year-old minor from Pennsylvania to Omaha in December 2020. The minor’s parents had reported her missing, and an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) led to Abraham’s arrest.
According to the FBI, Abraham had met the minor on the online platform Snapchat in November 2020, when he was 22 years old and the minor was 15 years old. He then traveled to Pennsylvania to pick up the minor and return to Nebraska, where he lived.
After arriving in Nebraska, Abraham and the minor engaged in sexual activity, which is unlawful under the laws of the State of Nebraska.
Abraham was also ordered to pay a $10,000 fine and will be required to register as a sex offender after his release from prison. He will begin a 30-year term of supervised release after his imprisonment.
The FBI’s investigation revealed that Abraham had transported the minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, which is a serious crime that can have devastating consequences for the victims.
Abraham’s sentence is a serious reminder of the consequences of sex trafficking and the importance of protecting children from exploitation and abuse.
