A Mexican national and high-ranking Sinaloa Cartel member, Emmanuel Leon-Soto, has been sentenced to 336 months in prison for his role in a massive fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine trafficking operation in North Carolina.
The 42-year-old Leon-Soto, also known as Manny, was one of 38 individuals charged in November 2024 with conspiracy to distribute the deadly narcotics. He was also accused of laundering the proceeds of the scheme.
Leon-Soto was a priority target for the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) program and a high-ranking member of the Sinaloa Cartel, one of the world’s most powerful and notorious drug cartels.
The Sinaloa Cartel has been responsible for flooding the US with fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine, killing countless Americans. Leon-Soto’s sentencing is a major blow to the cartel’s operations in the US.
The sentence, handed down by Chief US District Judge Catherine C. Eagles, will be followed by five years of supervised release. Leon-Soto’s conviction and sentencing demonstrate the DOJ’s commitment to holding Mexican cartel kingpins accountable for poisoning America.
