Jessie Thomas Taylor, Sex Trafficking of Minor, Florida 2025

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – In a chilling case that shook the community, Jessie Thomas Taylor, 43, of Tampa, has been sentenced to 24 years and 4 months in federal prison for the heinous crime of sex trafficking a minor. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Virginia Hernandez Covington.

Taylor pleaded guilty on June 6, 2025, admitting to his despicable actions that began in April 2021 and continued through December 2022. Court documents reveal Taylor’s brazen exploitation of a 16-year-old girl, posting advertisements featuring the victim on adult escort websites with offers for sexual acts.

According to investigators, Taylor not only advertised the minor but also coordinated communications, managed hotel bookings, and pocketed proceeds from her sex acts. The court’s stern sentence reflects the severity of his crimes against a vulnerable child.

This case was a joint effort by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Tampa Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Courtney Derry prosecuted the case, ensuring justice was served for the innocent victim.

Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice, played a pivotal role in this prosecution. The program combats child sexual exploitation and abuse, marshaling federal, state, and local resources to apprehend predators like Taylor and offer aid to victims.
