JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A stark reminder of corruption within the ranks: Daniel P. Meenehan, a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employee from Columbia, Missouri, appeared in federal court on charges of attempting to produce child pornography.
The 64-year-old was charged by complaint on July 24, 2025, for his alleged actions over a period of one year. An investigation launched on Oct. 29, 2024, revealed Meenehan’s involvement in over 41 transactions with minors, exchanging nude images for money.
According to authorities, the defendant was apprehended after HSI agents in St. Louis, Missouri, received information from Miller County, Missouri Sheriff’s Office about a minor sending nude photographs to an adult male. The case carries serious implications, as Meenehan faces a federal prison sentence of up to 30 years if convicted.
It’s important to note that the charges against Meenehan are merely accusations and no evidence of guilt has been presented. A federal trial jury will ultimately determine his innocence or guilt. The sentencing hearing is scheduled for after completion of a presentence investigation by the United States Probation Office.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative led by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ashley Turner is handling the prosecution, with support from the Department of Homeland Security Investigations, Boone County Sheriff’s Office, and Miller County Sheriff’s Office.
