Tyrece Thomas Sentenced for Unconscious Assault

In a brutal case of assault, Tyrece Thomas, 23, of Macy, Nebraska, was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison for his role in knocking an adult male unconscious and continuing to strike, kick, and stomp on the victim.

According to court records, Thomas’s assault resulted in serious injuries to the victim, including a broken jaw, which required medical attention. In a disturbing twist, when a third party attempted to help the unconscious victim, Thomas kicked the third party in the face, breaking that person’s nose.

The assault took place in May 2023, and Thomas was subsequently charged in United States District Court due to federal jurisdiction under the Major Crimes Act for felony assaults on an Indian Reservation.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and United States Attorney Susan Lehr announced the sentencing of Thomas in federal court in Omaha, Nebraska, on April 26, 2024.

Chief United States District Court Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr., handed down the sentence, which includes no parole in the federal system. After Thomas’s release from prison, he will begin a 2-year term of supervised release.
