⏱ 2 min read

Frederick Warren, a 70-year-old Las Vegas man with a staggering 16 prior felony convictions, was busted for unlawfully possessing and selling multiple firearms in the Las Vegas area between October 31, 2022, and November 18, 2022. Warren’s arsenal included a loaded Colt Defense Carbine 5.56 caliber rifle, two 9mm caliber pistols, a Remington Arms 22-250 rifle, and a 12-gauge shotgun. His motive: to profit from the illegal gun trade, putting the community at risk.

The government requested 77 months’ imprisonment, but United States District Judge Jennifer A. Dorsey sentenced Warren to 30 months in prison. Warren’s prior convictions include robbery with a firearm and possession of controlled substances, making him a repeat offender with a penchant for violence.

Law enforcement agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), are working to disrupt illegal weapon pipelines and remove unauthorized firearms from the streets. Special Agent in Charge John Wester of the ATF’s San Francisco Field Division vowed to hold violators accountable, stating that firearms trafficking threatens public safety.

The case highlights the ongoing battle against firearms trafficking in Nevada and the collaborative efforts of federal, state, and local law enforcement to keep communities safe. As First Assistant United States Attorney Sigal Chattah noted, the illegal possession and carrying of firearms pose a direct threat to public safety, and those who engage in such activities will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
