Arian Perez-Feliciano, Attempted Murder, Connecticut 2024

The grim streets of Waterbury were once again witness to a shocking display of violent crime as three alleged perpetrators have been charged with heinous offenses, including the attempted murder of a local police detective.

ARIAN PEREZ-FELICIANO, 21, ALBERTO RODRIGUEZ, 19, and SYDNEY REID, 18, all residents of Waterbury, are facing a litany of charges that include conspiracy, robbery, carjacking, and the shooting of a police officer.

The nightmare began on January 13 when Rodriguez and Reid stole a shotgun, drugs, cash, and other items at gunpoint. Just weeks later, on February 13, the trio attempted to carjack a vehicle on Waterville Street before making off with another car nearby. Their escape took a sinister turn when Perez-Feliciano opened fire on an officer attempting to apprehend them.

The injured detective suffered a gunshot wound to the thigh and was rushed to the hospital where he is currently recovering. The defendants now face life-altering consequences if convicted of all charges, including a mandatory minimum sentence of 17 years.

Despite the serious nature of the charges, U.S. Attorney Sullivan emphasized that an indictment does not equate to guilt, maintaining the defendant’s right to due process and innocence until proven otherwise.

This case is a joint effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Waterbury Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney John T. Pierpont, Jr., and Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Don E. Therkildesen, Jr. leading the prosecution.
