Troy Weeks, Capitol Breach, New York 2021

New York man Troy Weeks, 38, of Greenville, has entered a guilty plea for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol breach, according to the Department of Justice.

Weeks faces two felony charges of civil disorder and assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers, along with four misdemeanor offenses including entering restricted grounds and engaging in physical violence on the Capitol premises. The court will sentence Weeks on Nov. 1, 2024.

Court documents detail Weeks’ involvement during the riot, including his actions at the Tunnel area where he was seen inciting a crowd to push police lines and attempting to grab an OC spray can from a law enforcement officer.

Weeks was arrested by the FBI on Jan. 10, 2023, in New York. Over 1,424 individuals have been charged since the breach, with investigations ongoing.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and the Department of Justice National Security Division are handling the prosecution, with significant assistance from the FBI’s Albany and Washington Field Offices and local law enforcement agencies.
