WICHITA, KAN. — Quincy D. Hadley, a 36-year-old Wichita resident, was sentenced to seven years in federal prison after being caught with his handiwork on the line. Hadley has been handed down a severe penalty for the brandishing of a firearm during a convenience store heist that left customers shaken and authorities on edge.
The U.S. Attorney Tom Beall announced the sentence, which followed an October 26, 2016, incident at the Presto gas station located at 4414 W. Maple in Wichita. Hadley’s criminal actions were particularly chilling; he admitted to pointing a .40-caliber pistol at a clerk during the robbery, forcing her to hand over cash and cigarettes before making his escape.
Law enforcement responded swiftly, leading to Hadley’s capture when an officer discovered him in the act of changing clothes in a parked vehicle just moments after the crime. The rapid response from authorities is being commended by Beall, who praised the Wichita Police Department and Assistant U.S. Attorney Brent Anderson for their diligence and dedication to justice.
Hadley’s heist was no mere mugging; his actions put the clerk in a state of terror, and his sentence reflects the gravity of his crime. The seven-year term will keep him locked up long enough to ponder the consequences of his actions on innocent lives and the community at large.
As the case closed with Hadley’s sentencing, it served as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by those who resort to violence in the name of profit. The Wichita community can breathe easier knowing that justice has been served for this violent act.
