Alexandria, Va. – Maurice Lamont Gordon, 37, a Woodbridge dealer, admitted guilt today for distributing fentanyl that led to the tragic overdose death of a 15-year-old.
Court documents reveal that on April 23, 2022, Gordon sold counterfeit pills laced with the deadly substance. The victim, accompanied by another person, purchased ‘percs’—a slang term for Percocet or fentanyl-laden pills similar to legitimate oxycodone formulations. After returning home with his share of the pills, the teenager never left.
The next day, emergency services found the teen unresponsive in his home. Prince William County Police discovered narcotics paraphernalia and confirmed that the victim died from Accidental Fentanyl Intoxication, based on fentanyl and despropionylfentanyl detected in his blood.
On Oct. 12, 2022, authorities raided Gordon’s residence, uncovering over 130 grams of fentanyl pills, marijuana, cocaine, a ghost gun, and ammunition. Over 1,100 pills were seized, totaling a significant drug haul.
Scheduled for sentencing on October 3, Gordon faces at least 20 years to life in prison. Sentencing guidelines will dictate his final sentence.
The case is being prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Lauren Hahn and assisted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristin Starr. The announcement was made by top law enforcement officials from various agencies following the acceptance of Gordon’s plea by U.S. District Judge Michael S. Nachmanoff.
